Leura Gardens Festival

The Festival will be held from Saturday 5th October to Sunday 13th October.
Gardens open at 9:30am to 4:30pm daily.  
A popular event in the upper Mountains is The Leura Gardens Festival which will be held this year from the 29th September to 7th October. The attractive and picturesque village of Leura is renowned for its cherry blossom lined avenues, boutiques, art galleries, gourmet cafes and restaurants. The Leura Gardens Festival gives residents and visitors an opportunity to stroll around some of the finest private gardens in Leura which are only open to the public at this time. The 2012 Festival will feature ten gardens each one of them with their own distinctive style and character. Visitors will be able to view magnificent displays of cool climate exotics such as rhododendrons, camellias, azaleas, hellebores and many more. Many of the gardens are mass planted with iris, daffodils, anemones and tulips and present an exciting mix of colour and interest for garden lovers. The inspiration of the famous Blue Mountains master gardener of the 1930’s, Paul Sorensen, is much in evidence on some of the properties. Some of the garden owners are also on hand to talk about their gardens and offer hints and tips. This will be particularly useful for those who may be planning a cool climate garden or for gardeners who have recently settled in the region and are looking for advice. The National Trust property Everglades is included in the Leura Gardens Festival and it is here on this sprawling 12 ½ acre estate that Paul Sorensen did his finest work creating one of the best known gardens in the state.
