Grand Central Hotel - NSW BLUE MOUNTAINS, Lithgow

Stayed there during World Masters Games orienteering Breakfast service [incl in the price] let me down on 2 mornings as apparently the cleaner partied prev night and had a 'hangover' and the dinner lounge was locked. No excuse. Other mornings it was great. Noisy music Fri and Sat nights in the downstairs bar dragged on until around 2am, not good while guests participating in sport are staying! Should have knocked off early on this occasion. Bathroom facilities were excellent as was the bar service Had booked 7 nights but stayed only 6 and refund was no problem. Phone number of hotel was unavailable. LOved the historic pictures of Lithgow on the walls, etc All in all a good stay in a lovely colonial building Would definitely stay again.

I knew that for $30 Australian it wouldn't be flash. Size of room was great as was double bed. The electric blanket only worked on one side and the heater only blew out cold air. The bathroom/shower was opposite my room which was great but they were in the process of renovating the second bathroom shower next door which was able to be used and the painting materials were left in the hallway partly over the entrance to the usable bathroom. The fire exit door had been left open to help get rid of the paint smell but was still wide open at 11pm at night. On arrival the bar staff did not offer any information on the process of returning keys so that the bond may be returned. They did not tell me what the set of keys were for except for the one that opened my room door. The lock to my door was very tricky. I ended up staying for five nights and my towels were never changed. The central location of the pub was great. I hadn't factored in that the pub would have a live band and be playing till 3am in the morning. Overall I would recommend the pub for a during the week stay, but not a Friday or Saturday night unless you are into the pub scene as there is no way I could go to sleep until the band had finished and the pub closed. Booking facility was excellent.
